Generals Captain Alex O’Dowd Commits To Franklin Pierce

The Northeast Generals are excited to announce that 3 year Captain Alex O’Dowd has committed to play NCAA Division II College Hockey at Franklin Pierce University.  O’Dowd was a member of the original Generals team in 2015-2016 when the team played in the NA3EHL, which was later absorbed by the NA3HL, where he continued as Captain for 2 more seasons.  He finished his career with 28 goals, 63 assists and 101 points good for 2nd all time in Generals history.

Alex, who played 2 games for the Generals NAHL team, won numerous awards during his tenure as a General.

  • NA3EHL  Leadership Award

  • NA3HL Coastal Division Leadership Award

  • NA3HL Coastal Division Leadership Award
  • NA3HL Coastal Division Academic Achievement Award
  • NA3HL Top Prospect

“Anyone that has been around the Generals knows my fondness for Alex as both a hockey player and a person.  I have had the honor to Coach Alex since he was 14 for various teams.  He has always been the hardest worker on any team.  He is just the type of kid that others follow.  He has a great sense of when to joke around and when to be serious.  You can see by the fact that he won the league Leadership award 3 years in a row just how highly the staff, his teammates and the league think of him.  He is an amazing young man.  He works a ton of hours, takes college classes where he gets a 4.0 and is still the first one at the rink, first one in the gym and first one at any community service event.  He is the type of kid that sets the bar really high for his teammates and in turn what we look for in a player.” said Generals GM Bryan Erikson.

“What can get lost sometimes is just how good of a hockey player he is.  He isn’t the fastest or the flashiest.  He doesn’t hit the hardest.  He doesn’t score the most.  But what he does is play a complete 200 foot game.  He works his tail off, runs every system the way the staff wants him to and is always in position.  He makes any team he plays on better and I think Franklin Pierce is lucky to have him as a player.  Quite simply he is just a good hockey player.  Does all the little things well.”  Erikson continued.

Head Coach Darryl Locke has this to say “I am extremely proud of Alex for his commitment.  He should serve as a role model to others that if you put the work in you get rewarded.  He is a great kid and great hockey player that I have full confidence will excel at the next level.”

The Northeast Generals wish Alex the best of luck as a Raven next season!
