October 16, 2022 (Attleboro, Mass.) – The 3HL Generals welcomed the Danbury Hat Tricks to the Village for a Sunday matinee matchup for the third meeting between the teams this season. Matthew Nuzzolilo recorded 4 points in the commanding 8-2 win.
With the win Northeast improves to 10-0-0-1 this season while Danbury watches their record fall to 2-4-1.
Danbury opened the scoring 11:14 into the first. Denis Radchenko took a shot from the blueline that hit the glass behind the net and produced a rebound in front of the cage. Oleg Egorov was there to bang it home for the 1-0 lead.
The Generals responded with a goal of their own at 15:23 when Sean Gorman found the puck in the far side corner and carried it up to the circle and towards the net. Gorman picked the near side corner for his second goal of the season tying the game 1-1 ahead of the first intermission.
Egorov opened the scoring in the second period again this time with an assist from Roman Winicki 6:32 into the frame. Winicki got the puck in the near side corner and fed Egorov alone in the slot regaining the 2-1 lead.
From their it was all Gens scoring the next 7 goals starting with Nuzzolilo at 15:32 of the second period while 4-on-4. On a breakaway Nuzzolilo carried the puck through the middle of the slot, faked a shot, and flipped the puck over the glove of the Hat Tricks netminder tying the game at 2.
After plenty of penalties and 5 other goals the Generals found themselves on a 5-on-3 powerplay in the final stages of the game leading 6-2. At 18:58 Mac Reed put the icing on the cake with his second goal of the game, second of the season. Reed and Nuzzolilo played pass with each other on the far side before Reed took possession down to the top of the circle and fired a shot to the top shelf for the goal.
In the end the Generals won 8-2 with 6 different players recording multi point games, and Luke Fundator stopping 16 of 18 shots for his 3rd win of the season.
Next up is a mid week road trip to Norwich with a mid day, 12:30 games against the Sea Captains this Wednesday October 19th.
