Huge game by Perry boosts Northeast over Maine, 7-4

Behind a great game by Kevin Perry, who had two goals and one assist, Northeast defeated Maine, 7-4.

Perry found the back of the net on the power play 13:16 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while 19:48 into the third to make the score 7-4 Northeast.

In a losing effort, Maine was sparked by Noel Fischer, who grabbed two goals. Fischer scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:37 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Maine. A hooking penalty on Derric Trudeau had put Maine on the power play. Jordy Knoren picked up the assist. Fischer\’s next tally on the power play made the score 5-3 Northeast with 11:25 left in the third period. Zachary Foss assisted on the tally.

Northeast forced Maine\’s netminders to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots and forcing 34 saves. Justin Broy made 26 stops and Brandon Daigle made eight. Northeast\’s goal total was higher than its season average. Northeast has scored at the pace of 3.7 goals per game during the current campaign. Team\’s forwards weren\’t the only contributers offensively, and the team\’s defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Northeast also got points from Travis Hyde, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Northeast also had goals scored by Paul MacDonald, Zachary Smith, Austin Braley, and Tommy Bellew, who each put in one. In addition, Northeast received assists from Chris McHugh, who had two and Adam Carvalho, Alex ODowd, John Quinn, John Catania, Jared Butler, and Tim Rheault, who contributed one each.

Maine excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Maine kept Northeast\’s goalie busy throughout the game, and Trevor Trudeau made 33 saves on 37 shots.

Others who scored for Maine included Hunter Morgan and Travis Mansir, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Maine were Sam Dedian, Travis Townsend, and Ryder Parkhurst, who each chipped in one.
