Kyle Wagner came up big, stopping 30 of 33 shots throughout the game. The Northeast Generals took the lead late in the first on a goal from Bransen Mackey and never looked back.
Marc Faia had a busy night with 2 goals and Austin Braley contributed with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist). Cole Therrien did his part, adding 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Christopher Constable chipped in with 2 assists.
During the first, Braley opened the scoring for Northeast with a goal at 4:53 with a helper from O’dowd. Faia quickly followed with a goal at 6:28 with a helper from Mackey. Kelly netted a goal at 9:41 with an assist from his teammate Lockhead. Therrien quickly followed with a goal at 11:21 with helpers from Dougherty and Constable. Mackey answered for the Generals with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 17:18 with an assist from Braley.
During the second period, Faia scored a goal at 1:19 with a helper from Lopaev. Braley netted a goal at 11:51 with assists from Mackey and Whalen.
In the third, Lockhead put in a goal at 9:00 with helpers from his linemates, Lockhead and Kelly. Therrien quickly followed with a goal at 10:10 with an assist from fellow Islanders forward Constable. Little scored a goal at 18:28 with helpers from Therrien and Conway.
Northeast’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Wagner’s big night as he stopped 30 of the 33 shots he faced. Wagner’s counterpart, Wilson, also had a big night, managing to stop 23 of 29, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Northeast Generals’ record to (4-0-0-0).
